Within the framework of the project “Wildlife Crime Leadership Initiative in Viet Nam”, from November 27 to 29, 2023, Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), Viet Nam Office in collaboration with the Prosecutors professional training school in Ho Chi Minh city (HPS), and Ha Noi Procuratorate University (HPU) organized two technical sharing sessions between experts of the University of Portsmouth (UoP), United Kingdom, and lecturers and students of the two training instutions.

At the events, Dr. Nick Pamment, Principal Lecturer in Criminology and Criminal Justice, and Dr. Jac Reed, Senior Lecturer in Criminology and Forensic Studies at the UoP shared about the development of a conservation social science, central roles of criminology and forensic science in combating wildlife trafficking. At the same time, representatives of the HPS and HPU also had discussions with the UoP’s experts on research orientation and application of the situational crime prevention to address wildlife crime in Viet Nam.

On this occasion, WCS Viet Nam also cooperated with the Ho Chi Minh City University of Law (HCMULAW) to organize a lecture for more than 80 students from the HCMULAW’s Centre for Advanced and International Programs where UoP’s lecturers provided students with knowledge on restorative justice for young offenders and the application of crime science in combating wildlife trafficking.
