Ha Noi, July 06, 2023, Wildlife Conservation Society - Viet Nam program (WCS Viet Nam) organized a training course on “Designing anti-money laundering training for prosecutors”.
Eleven lecturers from Ha Noi Procuratorate University (HPU) and Ho Chi Minh city’s Prosecutors professional training school (HPS) attended the training with the guidance of Mr. Chris Batt, former Mekong sub-regional Anti-money Laundering and Counter-terrorism Financing advisor for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

During the training, the participants were provided an overview of financial investigation and anti-money laundering, discussed on using indirect or circumstantial evidence in the prosecuting money laundering crimes based on the current legislations including the Criminal Procedure Code, Penal Code, Resolution 03/2019/NQ-HDTP of the Justice Council etc. They were also introduced on the experiential learning cycle - how adults learn, and practiced to use the training techniques and methodologies to design training on AML for prosecutors.

After the training course, participants will apply the trained knowledge and skills to develop training materials and lessons on using financial evidence in AML cases that will be conducted in the framework of the Wildlife Crime Leadership Initiative - Phase 2 (WCLI 2) funded by the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), United States Department of State, and implemented in Viet Nam by WCS Viet Nam in collaboration with the Supreme People’s Procuracy of Viet Nam.
