To continue the series of technical updates and follow up after the training on financial and money laundering investigation in combating wildlife crime, on August 30, 2022, Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) - Viet Nam Program collaborated with the People’s Police Academy (PPA) conducted a technical brief for police officers from Southern provinces/ cities. This activity is implemented within the framework of the project “Combating wildlife trafficking in Viet Nam'' funded by the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), United States Department of State.

28 out of 36 participants joined the technical brief. They are economic and environmental police officers at district and provincial levels in 13 Southern provinces/cities who participated in the “Financial Investigation and Money Laundering in Combating Wildlife Crime” training course organized by WCS and PPA from March 28 to April 1,2022 in Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

In this technical brief, WCS and PPA trainers provided updated information on the situation and emerging phenomena of illegal wildlife trade, and money laundering related to illegal wildlife trade. The briefing is also an opportunity for participants to share their experiences in the application of trained knowledge and skills in the practice of preventing and combating crimes in general, wildlife crime in particular.Many participants also shared their difficulties and problems, lessons learned, and consulted with PPA trainers and WCS for better solutions.
