On August 26, 2022, Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) - Viet Nam Program supported CITES Viet Nam to organize a technical meeting on the draft of MoU between Viet Nam and Nigeria on combating illegal wildlife trade. The meeting is implemented within the framework of the project "Building Cooperation to Combat Wildlife Trafficking between Africa and Asia'' funded by the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), United States Department of State.

The meeting was attended by 20 delegates from the Viet Nam Administration of Forestry (VNFOREST), Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), Vietnamese Academy of Forest Sciences, Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources, Biodiversity Conservation Administration (Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources), General Department of Viet Nam Customs, Environment Police Department (Ministry of Public Security).

At the meeting, the delegates exchanged ideas to finalize the draft MOU between Viet Nam and Nigeria, which not only revolves around biodiversity conservation but also the coordination between the two countries in combating illegal trade in wildlife as well as agreeing on the framework of the MoU’s action plans.
