On August 18, 2022, Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) - Viet Nam Program collaborated with the People’s Police Academy (PPA) to conduct a Post-training follow up and technical brief on financial and money laundering investigation in combating wildlife crime. This activity is implemented within the framework of the project "Building Cooperation to Combat Wildlife Trafficking between Africa and Asia'' funded by the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), United States Department of State.

The technical brief was attended by 25 out of 33 participants who are economic and environmental police officers at district and provincial levels in 9 northern provinces/cities who participated in the “Financial Investigation and Money Laundering in Combating Wildlife Crime” training course organized by WCS and PPA from April 4 to 8, 2022 in Hoa Binh province.

In this technical brief, WCS and PPA trainers provided updated information on the situation and emerging phenomena of illegal wildlife trade, and money laundering related to illegal wildlife trade. The briefing is also an opportunity for participants to share their experiences in the application of trained knowledge and skills in the practice of preventing and combating crimes in general, and wildlife crime in particular. Many participants also shared their difficulties and problems, lessons learned and consulted with PPA trainers and WCS for better solutions
