On July 21, 2020 in Long Bien district of Ha Noi city, Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) – Viet Nam Program and Environmental Police Division, Public Security Department of Ha Noi city held an awareness raising event on zero wildlife crime targeted at local wildlife-related businesses and facilities.

About 70 representatives of wildlife-related businesses and facilities in Long Bien district, Ha Noi city and local social organizations such as Female Union and Youth Union attended the event. Participants were provided with updated information and knowledge about the legal system on wildlife protection; governmental management on legal wildlife farming and trading, especially about risks of zoonotic diseases transmitted from wildlife to humans by experts of forest protection department, People’s Police Academy police, and WCS. During the event, representatives of wildlife-related businesses and facilities also have the opportunities to raise questions to the authorities.
This event aimed to contribute to improving understanding and compliance with wildlife protection laws of the local wildlife-related businesses and facilities. At the same time, it will contribute to enhancing the participation of individuals, civil society organizations in wildlife protection efforts so that they will play a role in monitoring and reporting illegal wildlife-related violations occurring in the community to support law enforcement activities.
