A day on the rapids of the Machariapo River with the ichthyologists: Guido Miranda, Gustavo Alvarez, Felsi Terrazas and Celin Pamuri fishing in the fastest section of the upper Machariapo river to date – the domain of a few determined fish including different species of pencil (Trychomycterus spp.) and naked suckermouth (Astroblepus spp.) catfish, and a couple of tetras (Characidae). Three new snakes for our list include an as yet unidentifed species of ground snake (Liophis sp.). Meanwhile the team begins to collect camera traps from the field revealing color photos of the dwarf brocket deer (Mazama chunyi), as well as a series of a mother with a fawn.
