Day Eighteen: June 22nd 2015
posted on junio 21, 2015 17:13
The second site for Identidad Madidi is in the unique dry montane forests of the upper Tuichi valley. This is a large patch of dry deciduous and semi-deciduous forest surrounded by humid montane forest, Andean foothill forest and montane grasslands. At the moment most of the trees are still green but the colors are beginning to change as the dry season takes hold. Today the majority of the team prepares the new campsite that will be the base for research over the next three weeks. We are camped once again on the Machariapo River, but now near its mouth where it joins the Tuichi River.
