The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) Solomon Islands Program is seeking qualified candidates for two openings, both based in Honiara: Project Manager and Project Coordinator.

The Project Manager will coordinate WCS field activity implementation in Central Province under the Pacific Biodiversity and Sustainable Land-Seascapes (BioScapes) Programme, as well as represent WCS to partners based in Honiara. Qualified applicants should have: at minimum, a postgraduate diploma in environmental science or equivalent; at least 5 years’ experience implementing conservation or resource management projects; and good knowledge of environmental and legal policy frameworks in Solomon Islands.

The Project Coordinator will work alongside government and partners to oversee implementation of the Coral Reef Rescue Initiative Global Environment Facility project in Solomon Islands. S/he will establish a national multisectoral hub to enable the design of national and subnational action plans for reef conservation. Qualified applicants should have: a Bachelors’ degree in environmental sciences or equivalent; at least 3 years’ experience implementing conservation and natural resource management projects; and good knowledge of enabling conditions required to support and finance resilient coral reef management. 

Applicants for either position should also have: experience developing and implementing workplans; ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with partners; strong verbal and written communications skills in English and Solomon Islands pijin; ability to work independently and with teams; and willingness to travel.
