WCS scientists informed discussions of the future of the Arctic at the Arctic Council Ministerial Meeting in Kiruna, Sweden on May 15, 2013. At the meeting, the Arctic Biodiversity Assessment report was released - this is a synthesis of scientific evidence from many years and 252 scientists on the status of populations of Arctic flora and fauna. WCS Canada's Dr. Don Reid was a lead author for the 'Mammals' chapter of this report. The WCS Beringia Director Dr. Martin Robards is the lead author of the Introduction chapters and author of Chapter 7 in a second report released at the meeting, titled Arctic Resilience, which investigates the potential for large shifts in Arctic ecosystem services that can affect human well-being and our ability to adapt to these changes.
