(Lubok Antu, April 06, 2018) The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), Royal Malaysian Police and the Armed Forces announced today that a joint enforcement operation conducted in Lanjak Entimau Wildlife Sanctuary in Malaysia resulted in the arrest of six suspects on March 22nd.

The population of this species in Cambodia is possibly less than 50 individuals. These nest discoveries give hope that conservation efforts may save this species from extinction

RAJASTHAN, INDIA (January 16, 2018)  A new study from WCS (Wildlife Conservation Society), Duke University, and the Centre for Wildlife Studies in India finds that communities living near wildlife reserves in Rajasthan, India, show a high tolerance for wildlife. This is despite them having experienced losses in crops and livestock as a result of interaction with wildlife like nilgai, jackal and wild pig, as well as larger carnivores such as leopard and wolves. Understanding these attitudes towards wildlife is critical to informing park management policies and practices.

Kratie (19 December 2017) - A nest of the globally Endangered Asian Giant Softshell Turtle was found on a sandbar on the Mekong between Kratie and Stung Treng by conservationists of Fisheries Administration (FiA), Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) and local communities. This is the only remaining area in the country where these huge turtles still breed. This nest is now being protected by local communities until all eggs are hatched and the hatchlings are released into the river.

Preah Vihear​ (08 December 2017) – The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) and Ministry of Environment (MoE) announced today that after five weeks of active nest protection by community members, three Black-necked stork chicks have hatched in Kulen Promtep Wildlife Sanctuary (KPWS) in the Northern Plains of Cambodia, giving hope to the future conservation of this rare species in the country.
