(July 11, 2022)   -   The document, entitled "Beyond the Jaguar, Region 1: Central America and the Caribbean" is an analysis carried out by the European Commission in coordination with multiple partners in Central America and the Caribbean. This report focuses on terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems, describing the key characteristics of the region, the main threats to its ecosystems, wildlife and the ecosystem services they provide, compiling lessons learned and highlighting promising approaches.

(May 12, 2022)   -   The British Ambassador to Honduras, Nick Whittingham, visited La Moskitia from 2 to 9 May to assess the impact of UK funded projects, which have been implemented in Gracias a Dios Department. The UK Department of Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) have provided more than US$700,000 in funds from 2016 to 2021, through projects from the Illegal Wildlife Trade Challenge Fund and the Darwin Initiative (which also covered Nicaragua).

(December 20, 2021)   -   The 5 Great Forests of Mesoamerica, made up of La Selva Maya in Mexico, Guatemala and Belize; La Moskitia in Nicaragua and Honduras; Indio Maíz-Tortuguero in Nicaragua and Costa Rica; La Amistad in Costa Rica and Panama; and El Darién in Panama and Colombia, are currently threatened mainly by deforestation promoted by illegal cattle ranching and industrial agriculture. From 2000 to 2015, more than 30% of forest cover has been lost in the Honduran Moskitia.
