Following up the first seminar on November 2023, on January 13, 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City, Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), Viet Nam Office coordinated with the Faculty of Journalism and Communication (FJC) of University of Social Sciences and Humanities (HCMUSSH) - HCMC National University organized the second seminar on “Storytelling methods in developing journalistic and communication products on wildlife protection topic”.

At the seminar, 45 students of the FJC learned and practiced story for change with the guidance of speaker Le Thien Tri, Technical Director of Language Development, Room to Read Vietnam. Using the tools of storytelling from maps, storytelling with keywords and connecting story, students were introduced to tell their own stories and exploiting the stories of the community. This is one of the important tools to help journalism and communications students create empathy and exploit the interviewee's story more authentically.

Next, the students were introduced to storytelling methods in developing journalism and communication products, especially on the topic of wildlife protection through a presentation by journalist Nguyen Tran Anh Thu, Culture and Society Department, Voice of Vietnam (VOV2). Through analyzing examples of typical articles, journalist Nguyen Tran Anh Thu guided students to develop a story honestly and in detail, while conveying the writer's emotions to the readers.
The seminar were conducted within the framework of project “Disrupting the illegal wildlife supply chain in Asia through strengthening partnerships between the government and civil society to increase the effectiveness of Government action” - Partners Against Wildlife Crime funded by the European Union (EU).
