On April 14th, 2022 in Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh province, the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) – Viet Nam Program and the Environment Police Department, Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a technical update meeting on increasing the participation of female police officers in prevention and combat of illegal wildlife trade (IWT). The meeting was conducted within the framework of the Partners Against Wildlife Crime project funded by the European Union in Vietnam.

Attending the meeting were leaders of the Environment Police Department - MPS, representatives of WCS, the European Union delegation in Viet Nam and 30 delegates, who are female police leaders and officers working in the field of prevention and combat of environmental crimes in general and wildlife crime in particular of the Environment Police Department; Environment Police Division of provincial police and district police of the selected provinces and cities, female lecturers of the People's Police Academy, the People's Police University, and gender experts.

The opinions and inputs shared at the meeting contributed to improving gender awareness, leadership capacity of female police officers in responding to IWT in Viet Nam, which will support the development of a comprehensive gender-based approach to law enforcement and enhances women participation in environmental protection in general and wildlife protection in particular
