WCS Viet Nam Program Overview
WCS has been working in Viet Nam since 2006, focusing on strengthening the commitment, capacity and actions of the government of Viet Nam to combat wildlife trafficking. Through support and cooperation to executive and judiciary sectors, including the Ministry of Public Security, Supreme People’s Court, Supreme People’s Procuracy, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the National Assembly, it has provided and shared intelligence on criminal wildlife networks which help generate well-informed decisions in enforcement operations. WCS Viet Nam have generated a wide range of reliable data on a number of related issues on illegal wildlife trade, trained and briefed about 4,000 law enforcement officers, policy makers, journalist, researcher and managers at nation-wide in investigation and enforcement techniques, legal barriers and distributed a number of technical handbooks and guides. It has assisted central agencies in reviewing and proposing necessary changes to national legislation, criminal intelligence analysis systems, and inter-agency cooperation. WCS has also facilitated Government to Government dialogue through multilateral and bilateral collaboration efforts, between Viet Nam and Asian, African and Latin American countries, to detect and respond to illegal wildlife trade networks. Its wildlife health expertise has been leveraged to address unregulated wildlife trade and mitigation of pandemic threats, through collaborative research, training, and policy development. Recently, WCS Viet Nam has also expanded to species conservation, focusing on finding and protecting Rafetus Swinhoei in the wild.
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Grant & Procurement Manager, the Procurement & Logistics Intern’s primary role is to support procurement procedures for goods, services, consultants, and logistics for events.
Responsibilities
A. Procurement execution:
- Prepares forms to get quotations from vendors; reviews and drafts quotation comparisons upon vendors’ quotations;
- Prepares purchase orders/contracts/service agreements and contract modification/liquidation minutes as required;
- Supports to conduct bidding and selecting preferred suppliers;
- Timely updates service provider database;
- Daily updates the Procurement trackers with information on purchase requests, progress and status of contract implementation.
B. Logistical support
- Books air tickets for WCS events’ participants and compiles supporting documents for monthly payment
- Books car services for WCS’s business trips and events, when required and compiles supporting documents for monthly payment.
- Supports the activity person(s) in charge (PICs) in organizing events (including but not limited to service of accommodation, meals arrangement, meeting room setup, field trips if any )
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the direct supervisor.
Requirements
- Final-year students or fresh graduates in a relevant field such as business administration, economics or public administration;
- Relevant work experience in administrative positions is preferred. Exposure to international business environment, non-profit sector is an added advantage;
- Accuracy in working with a large amount of data;
- Ability to respond effectively to time sensitive demands & inquiries;
- Ability to handle multitask, priority, attention to details and time management efficiently;
- Intermediate reading and written English skills;
- Computer skills mandatory, proficient in Microsoft Office Applications;
Benefit and allowance
This internship is for those who are serious about pursuing their career path in procurement / logistic /administration/non-profit/development field and longing to learn about wildlife conservation. Meal and travel allowance paid is 250,000 VND per working day.
