Scovia Kobusingye
Director Finance & Operations
Scovia Kobusingye completed a Masters degree in Business Administration at Makerere University, Kampala after obtaining a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management at the Uganda Management Institute. She joined WCS as an intern in 2001 after graduating from Tourism class, before that she worked with International Gorilla Conservation Program on a student project and IUCN on a short contract, she was later taken on as a WCS full time employee in November 2002. She learnt on the job at WCS and through subsequent training to acquire skills in financial management and internal controls and information management systems. Currently she works as Finance and Operations Director for WCS Uganda Program
Shivan Kaitesi Kamugisha
Partnerships Coordinator
Shivan Kaitesi Kamugisha serves as the partnerships coordinator at WCS under the USAID/Uganda Combating Wildlife Crime (CWC) Activity. Shivan holds a Master of Science Degree in Ecohydrology from Christian Albrechts University Kiel, Germany together with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Science from Makerere University and over 13 years of conservation work experience from both the NGO and private sector. Shivan’s work in the NGOs focused mainly on wildlife conservation, community conservation & livelihoods, combatting illegal wildlife trade (IWT) and countering wildlife trafficking (CWT) having led this particular work at Uganda Conservation Foundation with funding from UKAID/IWT Challenge Fund. She has also undertaken two consultancy assignments for WCS focusing on mapping of key stakeholders in the Albertine Graben that Uganda Biodiversity Trust Fund could partner with to implement its grants programme, and the other focused on training of community wildlife scouts around MFNP in the use of ODK and SMART databases for collecting information on human wildlife conflict incidences to enable UWA and Conservation organizations to use it to improve the mitigation measures. In 2008, Shivan worked for WCS on the USAID/Prime West Project, where WCS was tasked to monitor the impact of the project interventions on biodiversity. Working in the private sector as an Environmental Specialist/Hydrologist, Shivan was responsible for conducting Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs), hydrological assessments for water-related projects, Environment, Health and Safety Inspections and audits. She has worked on projects in various fields including Roads, electricity transmission lines, hydropower, solar power plants, Oil & Gas.
Simon Takozekibi Nampindo
Country Director WCS Uganda
Simon Takozekibi Nampindo is WCS Uganda Program Country Director since 2015. Simon has 25 years of conservation work experience. Simon holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Conservation obtained from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, USA. Simon conducted his post-doctoral research at the Appalachian State University, Boone, North Carolina in collaboration with the National Centre for Atmospheric Research, Colorado. Simon’s interests are climate change, ecosystem accounting and conservation financing, spatial conservation planning and connectivity. Simon collaborates with various academic and research institutions namely Makerere University, University of Oxford, University of Queensland, University of Virginia, IIASA, International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), Institute of Forestry Conservation (ITFC), Greater Virunga Transboundary Collaboration (GVTC). Simon serves as an academic supervisor and external examiner for graduate students at these universities. Simon serves on various scientific committees, and a boarder member of conservation institutions, Chairs the National Coordination Group for Key Biodiversity Areas in Uganda. Simon is very passionate about wildlife conservation and advancing scientific knowledge.
