Peter Kaupa now serves as assistant Project Officer with the WCS Highlands team in Goroka. With a carpentry background, he joined the Goroka office in 2019 as a Nursery Casual to support building in-house and community site-based nurseries. In his new roles as assistant project officer he assists with WCS capacity building activities across projects like forest reforestation, livehoods and the WCS Wasman (Rangers) program.

Sylvia Maiap Noble
Marine Programme Manager (Admin) & Kimbe Program Manager
Sylvia joined WCS PNG Goroka in 2013 as the Social Science Research Officer coordinating the Ikundi Project. She then moved to WCS Manus and took on the role of Program Manager prior to moving to Kimbe, West New Britain province to assume her current role. She was then promoted to take on the role of WCS PNG Marine Programme Manager (Administration). She coordinates WCS’s work and its implementation in Kimbe, liaise with communities and provincial government partners and organisations, and manage daily activities and the Kimbe staff. She also oversees the administration side of the overall PNG Marine Programme which includes Manus and Kavieng. Sylvia has a bachelor’s degree in Communication for Development from the PNG University of Technology with 10+ years of experience in coordinating, managing and implementing conservation and livelihood related projects. In 2019, Sylvia attended a certificate training course in Sustainable Environmental Management (the Beahrs Environmental Leadership Program) at the University of California, Berkeley, USA.
