Bronx, N.Y. – February 23, 2017 – The 2017 WCS Run for the Wild is scheduled for Saturday, April 29. Runners, walkers, and wildlife supporters are invited to participate in the 9th annual 5K race and family fun run/walk at the Bronx Zoo. Each year, WCS Run for the Wild is committed to raising awareness of the threats facing wildlife while raising money to help WCS conservation work at the Bronx Zoo and around the world. NEW STUDY: Frogs of the high Andes More Resilient To Chytrid Fungus Than Previously Thought
Bronx, NY – Feb. 17, 2017 – A team of wildlife health experts and environmental scientists working in the Peruvian Andes for the past decade have made a surprising discovery: in spite of the threat of climate change and a fungus lethal to most amphibians, the high-altitude frogs and toads are surviving, according to the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) and other groups.

Government of Nigeria Drops Buffer Zone for Superhighway Project But More Must Be Done to Protect Communities and Wildlife
February 16, 2017 — The Cross River State government’s announcement yesterday to drop a 12-mile buffer around a proposed superhighway though one of Nigeria’s last rainforests is still not enough to prevent the loss of important community forests and significant impacts to the region’s wildlife if the project moves forward, according to WCS (Wildlife Conservation Society) and its campaign effort to reroute the project entirely.
