Feb. 3, 2023, New York – The following statement was issued by Central Park Zoo: “A Eurasian eagle owl at Central Park Zoo was discovered missing from its exhibit at 8:30pm Thursday evening. The exhibit had been vandalized and the stainless steel mesh cut. Three Grizzly Bears Debut at WCS’s Central Park Zoo
New York – May 26, 2022 – There are three new grizzly bears at the Central Park Zoo. The rescued bears were moved from the Bronx Zoo to the Central Park Zoo and are making their Manhattan debut. All three grizzlies are female.  Amber and Luna are siblings, and Treena is unrelated. Central Park Zoo Introduces Macaroni Penguins To Polar Circle Exhibit

New York, NY – June 29, 2017 – One of the most popular exhibits at WCS’s (Wildlife Conservation Society’s) Central Park Zoo has a new species – and it’s called macaroni. Six macaroni penguins (Eudyptes chrysolophus) were added to the Polar Circle exhibit. The three males and three females came to the Central Park Zoo from the Montreal Biodome and SeaWorld San Diego on a breeding recommendation from the Macaroni Penguin Species Survival Plan (SSP), a cooperative breeding program designed to enhance the genetic viability of animal populations in zoos and aquariums accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).
