WCS first began working in Cambodia in 1999, and now works in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries and the Ministry of Environment of the Cambodian government and other stakeholders on a number of conservation projects across the country. The key landscapes that WCS Cambodia is working in are:

Seima Protection Forest: The SPF is situated in the foothills of the Annamite mountains. The SPF boasts more than 60 species that are Globally Threatened, Near-threatened or Data Deficient by IUCN criteria. The area is home to 25 different species of carnivore, including tiger and seven other species of wild cat. The Seima forest is also home to several communities that have depended on the forest economically, culturally, and spiritually for many generations.

Northern Plains of Cambodia: the largest remaining intact block of a unique landscape that once covered much of Indochina. The landscape is one of the most spectacular and important areas of South-east Asia for biodiversity, with over 260 bird species and large mammals such as Asian elephants, gaur and banteng. Local communities, who depend on rain-fed paddy or upland rice fields for their livelihoods, supplement these activities with small-scale animal raising and collection of non-timber forest products.

The Tonle Sap Great Lake: of enormous social, cultural and environmental value. It is one of the most productive and diverse fisheries systems in the world, providing key breeding grounds for fish and 60% of Cambodia's protein intake. It is home to some of the largest breeding colonies of some of the world's most threatened waterbirds. It is the largest lake in Southeast Asia, and boasts the largest seasonally flooded freshwater swamp forest habitat in Southeast Asia.

Key species that WCS Cambodia is working on are: Bengal florican, white-shouldered ibis, giant ibis, sarus crane, greater adjutant, lesser adjutant, spot-billed pelican, white-rumped vulture, slender-billed vulture, red-headed vulture, white-winged duck, Asian elephant, gaur, banteng, Eld's deer, yellow-cheeked crested gibbon, black-shanked douc langur and mangrove terrapin.
