Congress Pushing the Tiger Stamp... and Maybe an Elephant Stamp?

WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 7, 2017) – House and Senate conservation champions reintroduced bipartisan legislation to extend for four more years the enormously popular Save Vanishing Species postage stamp, also known as the Tiger Stamp, which raises funds for conservation. The House legislation also calls for the addition of a new African elephant stamp.

BAN THE BEADS: Microbeads-Free Waters Act Passes the Senate, on its Way to Becoming Law
WASHINGTON (December 18, 2015) – The Senate voiced its support for cleaner waterways and healthy wildlife by passing the Microbeads-Free Waters Act. The legislation, led by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) in the Senate and Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ) in the House, bans the use of tiny plastic particles from use in certain personal care products that are harming aquatic wildlife and polluting waterways. The vote follows passage by the House of Representatives earlier this month. The bill will now go to the President for signature.

New Wildlife Trafficking Bill Introduced in Senate

WASHINGTON (December 10, 2015) – WCS applauded the introduction of the Eliminate, Neutralize, and Disrupt Wildlife Trafficking Act in the U.S. Senate. The legislation is led by Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) and Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) and would bolster wildlife trafficking law enforcement and increase support for wildlife rangers.

WASHINGTON (November 3, 2015) – WCS applauded today’s House passage of H.R. 2494, the Global Anti-Poaching Act, that would bolster wildlife trafficking law enforcement, including strengthening the prosecution of offenders under racketeering and money laundering laws and increasing support for wildlife rangers. Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA) and Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY) introduced the bill, which attracted 67 Democratic and 47 Republican co-sponsors.
