Tiny Black-footed Cat Now on Exhibit at Prospect Park Zoo

Brooklyn, NY – Nov. 29, 2017 – Black-footed cats (Felis nigripes), Africa’s smallest species of wild feline, is now on exhibit at WCS’s (Wildlife Conservation Society) Prospect Park Zoo. Also known as small-spotted cats, black-footed cats are endemic to the arid open savanna and grassland regions of southern Africa primarily in Namibia and South Africa.

WCS’s Prospect Park Zoo Debuts Wreathed Hornbill Exhibit

Brooklyn, NY – March 1, 2017 –Wreathed hornbills (Rhyticeros undulates) have been on exhibit seasonally at WCS’s (Wildlife Conservation Society) Prospect Park Zoo since 2014, but recent renovations to the Rotunda Gallery in the zoo’s Animal Lifestyles building included the creation of an indoor hornbill exhibit that will allow guests to enjoy these colorful birds year-around.

North American River Otter Pup Debuts at WCS’s Prospect Park Zoo

Brooklyn, N.Y. – May 27, 2016 – A North American river otter pup (Lontra canadensis) has made his public debut at WCS’s (Wildlife Conservation Society) Prospect Park Zoo. The male otter was born February 14 and has now reached the age where it spends time outside of its birth den.
