The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) has announced 11 new grants to conservation nonprofit organizations implementing innovative approaches or mainstreaming methods for helping wildlife, ecosystems, and the people who depend on them adapt to climate change.

Both people and nature need significantly greater investment to adapt to climate emergencies that are damaging human communities and natural habitats across the world, according to Wildlife Conservation Society adaptation scientists.

A new study co-authored by researchers from the Wildlife Conservation Society’s (WCS) Global Conservation Program and the University of British Columbia (UBC) Faculty of Forestry introduces a classification called Resistance-Resilience-Transformation (RRT) that enables the assessment of whether and to what extent a management shift toward transformative action is occurring in conservation. 

Through its Climate Adaptation Fund, the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is soliciting proposals from nonprofit conservation organizations implementing new methods that help wildlife adapt to the rapidly-shifting environmental conditions brought about by climate change.
