April 8, 2015 – WCS’s (Wildlife Conservation Society) New York Aquarium will host a Mother’s Day family program called “All About Otter Moms” on Sunday, May 10 at 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and from 2 to 3 p.m. The program is free with aquarium admission.

May 5--Lafaza and WCS Announce New Partnership For Sustainable Vanilla and Clove Production Around Madagascar’s Makira Natural Park
Lafaza and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) today announced the launch of a new partnership to work with communities to expand environmentally sustainable vanilla and clove production around the Makira Natural Park in Madagascar’s northeast. The partnership will support more than 1,900 households to produce high-quality vanilla and cloves that will be destined for international buyers in the United States and abroad.

April 30--Sustainability Progress Should Precede Seafood Market Access, Researchers Urge

Demand for seafood from wild fisheries and aquaculture around the world has nearly doubled over the past four decades.  In the past several years, major seafood retailers in developed countries have committed to source their seafood from only sustainably certified fisheries and aquaculture, even though it is not clear where that supply will come from.

April 27--Indonesian National Police Seize Major Shipment of Pangolins, Arrest Smuggler

The Indonesian National Police’s Criminal Investigation Division (BARESKRIM MABES POLRI), the Government of Indonesia, and the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Wildlife Crimes Unit (WCU) today announced the seizure of a shipment of pangolins headed to China and valued at approximately 1.8 million US dollars (USD).
