Brooklyn , NY – October 7, 2009 - Now your 8 to 11 year old can have a holiday adventure at Prospect Park Zoo. When school is closed, send your child to the zoo for two days of fun, learning and exploration. Kids will learn what strategies animals use to survive the winter in Brooklyn and around the world as they:

  • Meet animals who hibernate, change their colors and use other special cold weather adaptations like chinchillas, tenrecs, snakes and more;
  • Come face to face with an owl and act as scientists to dissect owl pellets;
  • Work in groups to prepare winter treats for the zoo animals and complete a behavior study of the animals;
  • Learn what zoos do in winter to keep animals healthy and active;
  • Make cool crafts to take home.

Prospect Park Zoo – Open every day of the year. Admission is $7 for adults, $4 for seniors 65 and older, $3 for kids 3-12, free for children under 3.
