Governance Team Leader

The Wildlife Conservation Society, founded in 1895, has the clear mission to save wildlife and wild places across the globe. WCS's goal is to conserve the world's largest wild places in 16 priority regions, home to more than 50% of the world's biodiversity. We currently manage about 500 conservation projects in more than 60 countries.

WCS has been working in partnership with the Royal Government of Cambodia since 1999, providing technical advice and support for the conservation of key habitats and species across the country.

WCS is now seeking applications from qualified candidates to fill the following positions. Detailed job description of the positions are attached.

  • Duty Station: Preah Vihear Province

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Cambodian national with master’s degree or equivalent community Development, other related fields of biodiversity, eco-tourism; 
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in the field of good governance;
  • Hands on experience in designing, implementing and monitoring development projects
  • A good understanding of wildlife conservation, forestry, national resources management and practical experience applying in project and community development would be an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of forestry/agriculture laws, PA Laws and other relevant laws
  • Familiarity of civil society organizations and networks in Cambodia
  • Good written and communication skills in English and fluent Khmer language.

Operational Effectiveness

  • Ability apply conceptual models in support of formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of development projects,
  • Ability to lead implementation of new systems, and affect staff behavioral/attitudinal change

Management and Leadership

  • Focuses on impact, result and responds positively to feedback
  • Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude
  • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills
  • Remains calm, in control and good humoured even under pressure
  • Demonstrates openness to change and ability to manage complexities
