Stop-action images recorded in a Bolivian park reveal Andean bears and cubs repeatedly surrounding and attempting to dismantle the remote camera traps intended to monitor their distribution, abundance, and behavior. In addition to demonstrating the bears’ curiosity, the photos provide clues to help WCS scientists better conserve them into the future. The photos were taken in Apolobamba National Natural Area of Integrated Management, which borders Madidi National Park—one of the world’s most biodiverse protected areas.
