Bronx, NY – Sept. 9, 2015 – The WCS’s (Wildlife Conservation Society) Bronx Zoo is gearing up for the fall season with a Harvest Festival that celebrates nature with classic fall food and entertainment. Activities will be free with admission to the zoo for two weekends in September (Sat. – Tues., Sept. 12-15; and Sat. – Sun., Sept. 19, 20).
All summer Bronx Zoo staff has been growing a beautiful vegetable garden to give visitors interactive gardening experiences on the lawn outside of the Butterfly Garden. The exhibit helped teach visitors important aspects of nature including seed, soil, and the role animals play in the pollination process. The garden is now ready for harvest and the Bronx Zoo has a new line-up of seasonal experiences.
Harvest Festival activities include live bluegrass and international country music; food tastings and demonstrations by accomplished local chefs; composting lessons presented by Kidsgardening.org; cheese making demos; apple tasting; pickling tips; seasonal fall crafts.
The complete schedule of entertainment and activities can be found online at www.BronxZoo.com/events.
