Volunteer duties include assisting with education programs and giving tours

Training classes begin Saturday, January 5

Flushing, N.Y. – Dec. 7, 2012 – The Wildlife Conservation Society’s Queens Zoo seeks volunteers. Program participants will have the opportunity to teach visitors about animals through guided tours, assisting with special programs and events, speaking at narrated feedings, and leading arts and crafts activities.

Queens Zoo volunteers have the opportunity to get involved in a variety of events at the zoo, including annual holiday programs.

Training classes are scheduled for Jan. 5, 12, 19, 26 and Feb. 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, available for a multi-week training program, and commit at least four hours every week. The Wildlife Conservation Society’s Queens Zoo – Open every day of the year. Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors 65 and older, $5 for kids 3-12, free for children under 3. Zoo hours are 10am to 5pm weekdays, and 10am – 5:30pm weekends, April through October, and 10am – 4:30pm daily, November through April.
