Lunar New Year at the Queens Zoo: Saturday & Sunday 1 & 2

New York – Jan. 30, 2014 – The Wildlife Conservation Society's Prospect Park Zoo and Queens Zoo have events in February celebrating Lunar New Year 2014 – The year of the horse.

At the WCS Prospect Park Zoo on Feb. 15 & 16:

Activities include:

• Live Animal Demonstrations – Zoo staff will introduce visitors to some of the animals who call the zoo home. - (11 a.m., 12:30 and 1:30 p.m.)
• Sea Lion Feedings – At the zoo’s daily sea lion feedings, zookeepers show how they monitor the animals’ health through training behaviors such as high dives and flipper stands. (11:30 a.m., 2 and 4 p.m.)
• Meet Our Miniature Horses – Visitors will learn about the zoo’s miniature horses in celebration of the Year of the Horse. (12 and 2:30 p.m.)
• Puppet Show – "Hao Bang Ah, Horse!" puppet show presented by Chinese Theatre Works (1 and 3 p.m.)
• Lunar New Year Zodiac Scavenger Hunt – Visitors will use a scavenger hunt map to search for answers about zoo animals who might also be represented in the lunar zodiac. Those who complete the hunt will receive a prize. (11 a.m. to 4 p.m)
• Crafts – Visitors will make lantern crafts out of good-luck money envelopes. (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

The Wildlife Conservation Society’s Prospect Park Zoo – $8 for adults, $6 for seniors 65 and older, $5 for kids 3-12, free for children under 3.
