Big Cats

Of all the world’s wildlife, big cats may be the most iconic and revered. These mesmerizing top predators – tiger, lion, jaguar, leopard, snow leopard, and cheetah – are indicators of a healthy ecosystem, and their protection helps protect a significant proportion of the world’s biodiversity. Despite this, all of the world’s big cat species are considered to be declining and under threat.

WCS is an acknowledged leader in big cat conservation, with long-term programs on the ground at 44 big cat landscapes in 32 countries and three continents. WCS also has been the pioneer in promoting big cat health as critical to saving these flagship species. We are the recognized global leader in addressing the growing threat of disease and other health issues facing big cats across their range.
