Sunda stink badger is well-known from its unpleasant odor secreted by its anal scent glands. This Least Concern species is restricted in Indonesia (Java, Kalimantan, Sumatra, and Natuna Islands) and Malaysia (Sabah, Sarawak). They live in the forest but sometimes it can be found in open grounds such as gardens.
There is an emerging concern due to hunting for its anal glands to make perfume, hunted for flesh and traditional medicine to cure fever and rheumatism. In Indonesia, this species is protected by Indonesian Government Law (Peraturan Pemerintah) No. 7/1999.
