In collaboration with Mangrove Cell & Foundation, WCS-India's Marine team completed a week-long vessel-based offshore survey along Maharashtra’s coastline.

The survey was done using line-transect method to systematically cover a vast area covering over 426 nautical miles, spanning depths of 3 to 30 meters. We recorded fascinating sightings including cetaceans (Indo-Pacific Finless Porpoises, Indian Ocean Humpback Dolphins), pelagic seabirds (Masked Booby, Swinhoe's Storm Petrel, Arctic Skua), and other marine wildlife. Insights from the survey will play a key role in understanding distribution of marine megafauna on the west coast of India.
