Wildlife Institute of India, with support from National River Conservation Directorate, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, organised a workshop on “Involving stakeholders for conservation planning of Cauvery River, Karnataka state" on 16 August 2024.
The workshop, attended by Ms. Navya R, Dr. Vishnupriya Sankararaman, and Dr. Anant Pande from WCS-India, focused on planning for the preparation of the National River Conservation Plan for the Cauvery River and its implementation with support from various government agencies, NGOs, community-led groups, and the corporate sector. Dr. Anant Pande moderated the technical session on “Cauvery River Conservation - the path ahead”. About 50 professionals from organisations such as the Karnataka Forest Department, Central Silk Board, Karnataka State Biodiversity Board, Central Pollution Control Board, National Centre for Biological Sciences, Indian Institute for Human Settlements, and others participated in the meeting.
