World Tourism Day is commemorated by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) annually on 27th September, with the theme for 2023 being Tourism and Green Investments. This day was observed in Goa with a focus on non-traditional investments for Goa’s tourism sector and deliberation on fundamental issues in light of the necessity of increasing economic and environmental sustainability in the state.
WCS-India was invited to speak at the World Tourism Day event held at the Taj Cidade de Goa Horizon Hotel in Goa on 27th September. Dr Aaron Savio Lobo, Senior Advisor at WCS-India, was a keynote speaker at the event, which was hosted by the Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) in collaboration with SKÅL Goa and Goa Tourism.

This event was followed by the one-day multistakeholder workshop “Mainstreaming Biodiversity into the Coastal and Marine Tourism Sector in Goa”, organised in Goa on 29th September 2023 by WCS-India in collaboration with Goa Forest Department and Goa Tourism Department.
