Elephant Stolen elephant tusk recovered from TN tribal village | 3 September 2021 A team of forest officials of Anamalai Tiger Reserve (ATR), recovered the stolen tusk from a village about 6 km away from the site of the elephant death, that is, Kattupatti tribal settlement in Sadayamparai reserve forest area in Udumalpet forest range. Exotic 8 green-winged macaws seized | 5 September 2021 The Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) intercepted a car and seized eight green-winged macaws worth Rs 6 lakh at Tada checkpost in Nellore district. According to SEB officials, they were conducting checks to seize illegal smuggling of liquor from Tamil Nadu. Officials found the birds inside a cage in the car. Read more
Air Customs foils bid to smuggle live spiders from Poland | 17 September 2021 The Chennai Air Customs foiled bids to smuggle 10 live exotic spiders and narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances (NDPS) in postal parcels at the foreign post office. Working on a tip-off, the officials intercepted a parcel that arrived from Poland. It was addressed to a person based at Gajuwaka, Visakhapatnam. Read more

Bail denied to two caught with sea cucumber | 4 September 2021 Dismissing the bail plea of a man who was arrested for illegal possession of 2,800kg of sea cucumbers in Ramanathapuram district, the Madras high court has observed that over-exploitation of sea cucumbers not only affects the marine ecosystem but also the human ecosystem, more particularly the fishermen, as both are interdependent.
