Bangalore: At a function organised by the Kannada daily Vijaya Karnataka in Bangalore on Republic Day, Chief Minister Kumaraswamy who was appraised of the needs for relocated tribals promised to provide the support needed by them.
WCS Staff H L Govindappa mediated an interaction between the Chief Minister and Dasi, a relocated tribe from Sollepura center, Nagarahole. Dasi was one of the progressive farmers selected by the daily to be awarded as a Super Farmer for her achievements.Govindappa told him about how the relocated tribals often need livelihood opportunities when starting the new life. Training in agriculture and other skills was needed, as also educational facilities. For instance, at the newest relocation centre in Masthigudi where over 150 families have recently moved in, there was a need for an anganwadi.
The chief minister was impressed by the progress in the lives of the relocated tribals and gave an assurance to look into their needs.
