Nature-Culture Fellowship 3

‘Celebrating Nature-Culture Relationships’ programme at WCS-India is offering a unique fellowship opportunity for the third year! 

The relationship humans share with nature is complex and multifaceted in India. With increasing number of people sharing space with wildlife, these relationships which have survived and existed for long, play a major role in how we interact with wildlife today.  

The Nature-Culture Fellowship calls for young individuals to explore and document interesting human-wildlife relationships in and around Karnataka.  

The fellowship involves documenting art forms, folklore, culture, traditions, beliefs or any positive relationship that humans share with wildlife or nature around them. Please click here for more details and previous fellowship work. 

Deadline to apply: 10th August 2024

Location: Bengaluru (office and orientation), in and around Karnataka (field work) 

Start Date: 23rd September 2024 

End Date: 31st March 2025 

Eligibility

  • Students who have completed post-graduate degree and can commit full time for the fellowship for 6 months 
  • Interest in exploring and documenting human-nature relationships 

  • Comfortable having conversations with people, conducting interviews, and spend time in the field independently 

  • Speaking knowledge of Kannada is preferable 

  • Having a creative mind in conveying the stories to general audience  

  • High level of discipline and punctuality in meeting project deadlines and commitments 

  • Self-motivated and proactive approach 

Selection Process

The selection process for the fellowship involves an application followed by an interview of shortlisted candidates.
