CEDAMM (Dr Alphonse Mackanga Missandzou Educational Complex) is the training center of the Wildlife Conservation Society Gabon program located in Lopé National Park. The first training programs were carried out in Lopé in the 1990s. Subsequently, WCS was mandated by the Government of Gabon to build a training center in Lopé and to respond to the increased training needs in the area in the field of forestry and the environment management in Gabon and in the sub-region. The Educational Complex Doctor Alphonse Mackanga Missandzou (CEDAMM) was inaugurated in 2006. Since then, CEDAMM has become one of the privileged places for the trainings of the conservation’s stackeholders of the region by supporting the construction and development of skills, CEDAMM wishes to respond effectively to the challenges of conservation and sustainable management of natural resources.
Our actions is to organize training sessions focus on the needs of the conservation sector in the protected areas and forests of the Congo Basin structured around 6 themes:
- Trainings of the professional in conservation (ecogardes, team leader and manager)
- Ecological monitoring and fauna and flora inventories
- Monitoring of the application of the law in the protected areas and forest concessions
- Management of natural resources and local development
- Management of protected areas and conservation projects
