Project Name: Conservation of Great Indian Bustard and its Habitats in Thar landscapes
Location: Jaisalmer, Rajasthan
Reports to: Team lead
Work experience: minimum 2 years work experience in related field preferably in Rajasthan.
About us: Wildlife conservation Society-India is a non-profit organization works to conserve wildlife backed by science. We work in collaboration with government and non-government partners.
About project: The project aims to save the GIB and its habitats in Thar Desert in collaboration with Rajasthan forest department. The project will focus to address the different threats by adopting a broad multi-pronged approach to transform local communities by bringing about desired change in their knowledge, attitudes & skills.
Required Qualification, skills & abilities:
- A graduate or post graduate degree in animal husbandry.
- Excellent planning, time management, problem solving and organizational abilities.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to explain local community in simple/local language i.e. Rajasthani, Hindi.
- Adaptable and flexible to changing circumstances and needs of the role.
- Knowledge of local language and area, preference to local candidates.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in addressing issues related to livestock management.
- Organize & conduct awareness programs to engage local communities through trust-building activities, health camps, livestock productivity camps etc.
- Assist to introduce and promote stall feeding of cattle to local community.
- Assisting livestock farmers to grow and maintain fodder for livestock in their agriculture lands, village common areas (Oran/Gochar lands) outside protected area.
- Provide knowledge of latest and efficient livestock/fodder practices beneficial to overall GIB conservation and recovery programme.
- Coordinate with state animal husbandry and agriculture departments to dovetail their schemes with project beneficiaries.
- Prepare weekly/monthly/quarterly reports.
Compensation: Offered as per the qualification and experience.
