Project Name: Conservation of Great Indian Bustard and its Habitats in Thar landscape
Location: Jaisalmer, Rajasthan
Reports to: Team leader
Work experience: minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in avian species distribution, occupancy, threat and habitat assessments.

About the project: The project aims to save the GIB and its habitats in Thar Desert in collaboration with Rajasthan forest department. The project focuses to address different threats by adopting a broad multi-pronged approach to transform local communities by bringing about desired change in their knowledge, attitudes & skills.
Required Qualification, skills & abilities:
- Master’s degree in Wildlife/Ecology.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate with community in local language i.e. Rajasthani, Hindi.
- Physically sound to work in field under adverse weather conditions.
- Excellent planning, time management, problem solving, team building and organizational abilities.
- Excellent analytical and writing skills.
- Having 2 wheel/4 wheel valid driving license will be desirable.
- Candidates having worked in the above area/Grassland/Wetland habitats will be given preference.
- Ability to do ecological modelling using software’s & GIS.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop study design and conduct distribution, occupancy, habitat suitability/improvement and threat assessment for GIB in Jaisalmer and other range areas of Rajasthan.
- Identification and assessment of important grasslands used by GIB during dispersal/breeding for habitat improvement and protection in Pokhran range and DNP.
- Conduct assessment of carbon stocks in the identified important grasslands for restoration with communities and Rajasthan Forest Department.
- Conduct assessment of important GIB breeding enclosures for habitat improvement and threat reduction.
- Create and manage team of volunteers and interns for above study.
- Assist and support the Team Leader with analytical reports and presentations as required.
- Prepare weekly/monthly/quarterly reports.
Compensation: Offered as per the qualification and experience.
