Project Name: Conservation of Lesser Florican and its Habitats in Rajasthan/Madhya Pradesh landscapes
Location: Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh
Reports to: Country Director
Duration: One year
Work experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in working with communities on outreach, avian ecology, biodiversity management and documentation and sustainable livelihoods.
About us: The Wildlife Conservation Society-India works to conserve wildlife, backed by science. We work in partnership with governmental and non-governmental organizations to deal with conservation challenges such as human-wildlife interaction, voluntary relocation of people from protected forest areas, combatting wildlife trafficking, conservation of endangered species and so on. Required Qualification, Skills & Abilities:
- Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Science/Social science.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to mobilize community in local language i.e. Rajasthani, Hindi.
- Physically fit to work in field in adverse conditions.
- Excellent planning, time management, problem solving and organizational abilities.
- Good analytical skills and verse with MS Office, SPSS, R and other modelling and evaluation tools.
- Must have valid driving license for two or four wheeler.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design and implement field trials and project activities aimed for project.
- Liaison and establish relations with state forest and government departments and to facilitate collaborative efforts, statutory clearances and compliances.
- Assisting in the strategic growth and development of the conservation program.
- Aiding in the creation ,planning and funding of new and on-going projects.
- Prepare habitat assessments, species conservation plans, micro plans, resource mapping, biodiversity documentation etc
- Organize and conduct awareness programs to engage local communities through trust-building activities, livestock health camps, organic farming etc.
- Create pool of volunteers and supporters towards protection and conservation of lesser florican and other wildlife in project areas.
- Prepare weekly/monthly/quarterly reports.
Compensation: Offered as per the qualification and experience.
