Spinner dolphin. A spectacle of life in the San José Canyon

The San José Canyon, located in the Pacific of Guatemala, is a site of great ecological importance as it is home to various species of marine mammals, birds, bony fish, sharks, and rays. One of the species that can be observed is the spinner dolphin (Stenella longirostris), found in groups ranging from hundreds to thousands of individuals.

In Wuarska, one of the most remote corners of the Río Plátano Biosphere Reserve (RHBRP), a team of specialists and community members recorded 24 species of amphibians and reptiles during a research expedition that involved hours of river navigation and hikes through rugged terrain in this region of eastern Honduras.
