LiDAR Technology for the Conservation of the Maya Forest
(January 30, 2026)   -   With the aim of evaluating the use of drone-mounted LiDAR technology to better understand landscape topography and ecosystem health, an eight-day aerial mapping expedition was recently completed in the central area of the Maya Forest Corridor, in Belize and Petén, Guatemala.

Honduras confirms the presence of the bat Cormura brevirostris for the first time
(January 09, 2026)   -   Honduras has confirmed for the first time the presence of Cormura brevirostris, a rare bat species from the family Emballonuridae, characterized by a unique diagnostic vocalization consisting of a short sequence of three consecutive calls that progressively increase in frequency.
