WCS Canada is working to meet the growing need for high-quality scientific information on species and ecosystems that can be used to address major conservation and wildlife challenges. Our programs help to create a clear picture of what is at stake in wild ecosystems by using the best scientific tools and methods available and by tapping into the knowledge of local people and communities. We also work to increase the scientific skills and capacity of First Nations and other local citizen groups by enhancing their participation in conservation efforts.
Information alone will not save wild species, but with solid science about factors like species abundance, habitat needs and threats, we can build new land-use and conservation approaches that will ensure a brighter future for wildlife and wild places in Canada.
